GeekZone

Some of you will be wondering about how we will be keeping a mobile blog without an ADSL connection and laptop... So here's the good oil...

Hardware complement:
Canon A530 Powershot camera with SD memory card
XDA IIs Pocket PC with SD memory card and Vodaphone NZ prepaid SIM
Stowaway bluetooth keyboard

Software complement:
Spb Imageer for Pocket PC to reduce resolution on pictures taken with the Canon camera (we'll be uploading text and images via GSM GPRS link at high cost, so a 1Mb photo is just not appropriate!)
SoftX ftp to upload the reduced resolution photos to our web space
Diarist to upload text and links to blogger.com

Since I spent 3 evenings gathering the information I needed to get going with mobile blogging cost-effectively, I thought that I might save someone else the hassle by documenting the solution in a simgle place. Of course, there are many nways to skin a cat, and many other combinations, but I know this one works!

Got the pda talking to blogger.com at last!

I tried pocket blog and pocket blogger - but for some reason they didn't work. But pocket diarist (from New Zealand - really!) works just fine. Thanks to Kevin Daly for sharing it with us!
